Disabled Nationals Set For Aug. 23-25
The nation's top disabled water ski athletes will compete for national titles in respective events at the 22nd Disabled Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 23-25, at Shortline Lake in Elk Grove, Calif.
2012 U.S. 17 to 20 Team Q&Ps Available
The Qualifications and Procedures for the selection of the 2012 U.S. 17 to 20 Water Ski Team are now available for download from the Athletes' Resources section. The 2012 U.S. 17 to 20 Water Ski Team, which will be selected following the U.S. 17 to 20 Water Ski Team Trials, June 30-July 1, in Polk City, Fla., will compete in the 2012 Malibu Pan American Water Ski Championships.

The Qualifications and Procedures for the selection of the 2012 U.S. Junior Water Ski Team (World & Pan Am) are now available for download from the Athletes' Resources section. The 2012 U.S. Junior Water Ski Team, which will be selected following the U.S. Junior Water Ski Team Trials, June 30-July 1, in Polk City, Fla., will compete in the 2012 Malibu Pan American Water Ski Championships and the 2012 Junior Water Ski World Championships.
Can Am Challenge Q&Ps Available
The Qualifications and Procedures for the 5th Can Am Challenge are now available for download from the Athletes' Resources section. The event, scheduled for Sept. 1-2 at the Lake of Dreams in Jerseyville, Ill., features Under 13 and Junior teams from the United States and Canada competing for team titles only.
Athletes Of The Month Selected
USA Water Ski has selected Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Alex Lauretano (Windermere, Fla.) as its Male Athlete of the Month and Female Athlete of the Month, respectively, for January. The U.S. World University Water Ski Team was selected USA Water Ski's Team of the Month. Pickos, Lauretano and the U.S. World University Water Ski Team are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athlete and Team of the Month honors.
Board Approves P&P Changes
At the meeting of the USA Water Ski board of directors on Jan. 29, 2012, the following housekeeping changes were approved to the USA Water Ski Policies and Procedures Manual (PDF). The P&P Manual is for the use of the board in guiding the smooth operation of the organization and is a complement to the Bylaws.
USA-WS Honors Athletes, Volunteers
USA Water Ski and its respective sport disciplines honored several athletes, coaches, volunteers and ambassadors at its annual awards reception on Jan. 28 at the Lake Eva Banquet Hall in Haines City, Fla. The reception, which celebrated the 2011 water ski season, was held in conjunction with USA Water Ski's mid-winter board meetings for the 12th consecutive year. The respective award winners were selected either by the USA Water Ski Awards Committee or by the sport discipline's organization. Mark Jackson and Hank Longo from Central Florida's Polk County Sports Marketing served as the masters of ceremonies.
National Junior Teams Selected
Top junior water ski athletes from across the nation have been selected to the National Junior Water Ski Team and the National Junior Development Water Ski Team for 2012. The 36 selections, decided upon by the American Water Ski Association's Junior Development Committee and International Activities Committee, are based upon tournament performances during the 2011 tournament season.

The U.S. World University Water Ski Team won the gold medal and three U.S. team members combined to win seven medals at the 2012 FISU World University Water Ski Championships, Jan. 12-15, in San Bernardo, Chile. For scores, click here.

Club Insurance Program Renewed
USA Water Ski and Entertainment & Sports Insurance eXperts (ESIX) are pleased to announce the renewal of the USA Water Ski Club Insurance Program for 2012. The program, which is owned and managed by USA Water Ski, has been designed to provide General Liability and Participant Accident coverage for club operations, activities and exposures that fall outside of the insurance provided by USA Water Ski as part of sanctioning. The insurance coverage afforded through USA Water Ski as part of sanctioning only applies while a sanctioned event is taking place, and does not provide coverage for your club and its members when the sanctioned event is over or for club activities and exposures which cannot be sanctioned through USA Water Ski.
'Footers Ring In The New Year
Expectations were high for performances at the 34th annual Lake Norman New Year's Day Barefoot Challenge on Sunday at Lake Norman Marina in Sherrills Ford, N.C. One of the longest running and unique barefoot tournaments in the world, contestants receive one point for every second on their bare feet coupled with points for the start method and any tricks performed as they are pulled by a boat in a tight circle pattern near the spectators.

The staff at USA Water Ski wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. USA Water Ski Headquarters will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23 and the week of Dec. 26-30. Headquarters will reopen at 8:30 a.m. (EST) on Monday, Jan. 2.
Jaquess' World Overall Record Approved
The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation's Tournament Council has approved the pending women's world overall record set by U.S. water ski athlete Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) at the XVI Pan American Games, Oct. 20-23, in Chapala, Mexico.

2012 35+ Water Ski Teams Selected
USA Water Ski is pleased to announce the selections of three U.S. 35+ Water Ski Teams that will compete in major international tournaments in 2012. The U.S. 35+ Water Ski World Championships Team will compete in the 35+ Water Ski World Championships, Oct. 25-28, in Chapala, Mexico, and the U.S. 35-44 Pan American Water Ski Championships Team and U.S. 45+ Pan American Water Ski Championships Team will compete in the 2012 Pan American Water Ski Championships, Sept. 12-15, in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. The American Water Ski Association's 35+ Veteran Sub-Committee selected the teams.
AWSA Nationals' Schedule Released
The schedule of events for the 70th GOODE Water Ski National Championships is now available. The Nationals will be held Aug. 14-18 at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla. Note: The finals of the 2012 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour, presented by O'Brien, will take place on Thursday and Friday during the Nationals under a separate sanction.
